The New England Young Composites Innovators (NEYCI) ignites curiosity and builds pathways for the next generation of composites industry professionals. Through hands-on classroom experiences, company tours, career mentorship, internship programs, and collaboration with educators and industry partners, we connect New England's youth ages 5 to 18 to the exciting world of composite materials, ensuring a skilled and passionate workforce for the decades ahead.
The composites materials industry is critical to advanced manufacturing in aerospace, marine, automotive, construction, and defense sectors. New England has a deep history of composites manufacturing, yet the industry faces a growing crisis: retirement of composites professionals from the Baby Boomer Generation is creating a significant workforce gap that the younger generation is not yet filling at a sufficient rate.
The New England Young Composites Innovators (NEYCI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to address this challenge directly by engaging school-aged children and connecting higher education students to the industry . NEYCI will serve school-age children aged 5-18 across New England, delivering structured educational programming that introduces composites as a career field, builds engineering skills, and creates direct pipelines to higher education and employment opportunities.
With deep roots in the industry and the development of strong relationships with schools, universities, and major industry organizations, NEYCI will be uniquely positioned to make a lasting impact on New England’s composites industry workforce.
